- Yamoto Daijo Fujiwara Masanori
- 1st Generation 1596- 1624
- Masanori is said to
be a descendant of Yamashiro Sanjo Yoshinori. He initially was
taught by his father Norimitsu after which he moved to Kyoto in
Yamashiro to finish his training.
- He was then hired by
the Matsudaira Tadanao clan as a retainer and swordsmith in
Echizen province where he remained for the rest of his working
period. He produced many fine swords recognized for the cutting
quality and beauty.
- He was born in the
late Koto times and worked in the Keicho Shinto period. Often said
to be the second Golden Era of swordmaking, 1596- 1624.
- He is ranked a Jo-Saku
smith and Ryo Wazamono for the sharpness of his blades. This sword
has NBTHK Hozon papers of authentication.
