First generation Hirosuke is the son of Shimada Yoshisuke, the founder of this type of Soshu tradition, Hirosuke is one of the representative Smiths of the Shimada school.

The blade has a powerful shape in Hira-Zukuri. It is wide and thick with Saki-Sori and Iori-Mune. The Kitai is Itame with a hint of Masame, Ji-Nie and Chikei. The grain is prominent. There is also Utsuri. The Hamon is basic.
